Recipe: Veggie Sausage Patties

Vegan Sausage Patties

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (14 oz) can lentils, drained
  • 3 cups vegetable broth (or water)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup ground flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil
     

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place all ingredients (except avocado oil) in a food processor and pulse until just combined.
  2. If the mixture seems too dry, add water, a tablespoon at a time. If the mixture seems too wet, add more oats, a tablespoon at a time.
  3. Heat oil over medium-high heat in a skillet.
  4. Scoop two tablespoons of the mixture at a time and place in the hot oil, gently pressing down with a fork to make a patty.
  5. Cook until golden brown, flip, and continue cooking until cooked through.
